As I’m planning a trip home to Australia next month to visit my family, I’ve only just now begun to think of gifts to take. I was originally going to buy gifts, but decided instead to make things by hand which is much more personal and holds more sentimental value. So having left gift buying to (almost) the last minute, I was scrambling for ideas for simple and quick hand-made gifts, and finally came up with an idea for making Fragments cards.
Making Fragments textiles, fabric art journals and mini-journals can be quite time-intensive, but cards are much quicker to put together. And of course they don’t have to be stitched or assembled perfectly. Perfection within imperfection.
Working with paper and images printed onto paper is not something I generally do, but with the addition of some fabric collage using the hand-dyed fabrics I made last week, it really changed the experience. I love the idea of these cards and I also love how this one turned out.
