The Nature of Things – a stitched mixed media art journal

The Nature of Things Journal

During February as part of my year-long commitment to making daily art, I made daily nature-inspired art journal pages using The Nature of Things printable journal kit and I’ve managed, finally, to assemble some of the pages into a completed art journal.

As a life-long nature lover I really enjoyed the process of making this journal and I simply love the way it turned out. I think it’s a beautiful and artful expression of how much I enjoy spending time with nature.

The pages are made using stitched mixed media so they’re quite thick and it was a challenge to assemble everything together. In the end I decided to make two journals so the pages weren’t too squashed up, so I still have several pages left over and plan to make another journal using those pages. You can see close-up photos of all the individual pages here in my photo gallery.

This journal is being offered as one of the stitch project for my upcoming online workshop – Fragments of Nature – which begins next Monday. You can find details about this workshop here.

  1. Linda, I so wish I had the energy for the daily creative time you employ each day. Sadly, there are too many things going on in my life right now that are using that energy. I very much like getting your emails and looking at your work. I did create a goal for 2018 and that was to do one piece on the third Sunday of each month in a colourway that I wrote on the calendar. So far I am on track and will at least have 12 items ready to bind into a book.

    1. I’m glad to hear you have a long-term plan and I hope you manage to complete your journal at the end of the year – they’re such fun to make.

  2. I’ve been following your designs on Instagram, Love how this all came together in a book form.
