The fabric box that I started last week is just about finished. I’ve completed the beading and hand embroidery for the top of the box and although I’ve used the same design for the three sections, the embellishing is slightly different on each section which makes it look more interesting I think.
I decided to make the lining for the box using this technique for making fabric from ribbon and it’s turned out very sparkly indeed.
It took a little longer than expected to finish the pieces because of the extra work making the lining, however I’m loving the way it’s looking and I should be finished very soon.
Learn to make your own fabric box
If you’ve never made a fabric box before, this is a good book to get you started. It explains the basics and gives you some good basic shapes to work with. You can find it here on Amazon.com.
Alternatively if you want to get a bit fancy with your fabric boxes, try this book which is one of my favorites. This book includes lots of ideas for making unusual shaped boxes and embellishing them. Also available here on Amazon.com.
