This year I’ve committed to a daily artistic practice of recording a memory from each day on a journal page, and at the end of the month I’ll be assembling a completed memory journal.
I believe that to achieve sustainable goals, things should be easy and fun, so with that thought in mind I’ll be designing a series of Printable Journal Kits, a new one each month, which will be an easy way to get started creating my journals. The journal kits can be found here in my online store. And then to make it a really creative and fun project, I’ll be combining the printable pages with stitched mixed media.
This week to get things started, I’ve managed to create some simple but interesting journal pages. What I like most so far about this process, is that using the printable pages as a starting point, I don’t have to think too hard about where to start. I really love how these pages are turning out so far and I can’t wait to finish a completed journal! Here’s my pages for this week and you can see more of my journal pages here.
1st January
For the first page of this month’s journal I chose a quotation.
“Be like the bird who, pausing in her flight awhile on boughs too slight, feels them give way beneath her, and yet sings, knowing she hath wings.”
2nd January
Today I noticed a little bird’s nest that had fallen out of a tree.
3rd January
I came across an old stitched journal page that had never found it’s way into one of my journals. It has a message that I needed to hear today so I tore the page up up and stitched it to one of my printable pages.
4th January
Winter has finally arrived in Florida and today is bitterly cold. A good day for drinking tea and dreaming of summer.
