If you love to make art journals, join me right throughout 2019 for the free Wild Soul Art Journal Challenge
One of my goals this year is to deepen my art practice, and I’ve found that one of the best ways to do this is to work with an art journal.
An art journal gives you a space to experiment and try new techniques and processes in a free-form kind of way, without rules and restrictions; just working intuitively and seeing where things go. When working in this way, I always feel a strong connection to my soul, as if it has grown wings and is flying free and wild.
How The Challenge Works
The Wild Soul Art Journal Challenge is free to participate. Throughout 2019, each week I’ll be sharing a new Wild Soul Inspiration card with a prompt on it. You can download the card and use it as inspiration to create an art journal page. With art journaling, there are no rules – you can paint, sketch, write, draw, collage, or even stitch!
This art journal challenge is perfect if you want to deepen your own art practice, or just enjoy creating art journal spreads.
If you’re new to art journaling, just dive right in and get started. There’s no right or wrong way to get started, simply put some color on the page and get started. You’ll know you’re doing it right when you stop worrying about what you’re doing and start having fun. If you need some supplies, you can find my favorite art tools and supplies here in my resources section.
This year I’m doing something different. I usually like to work in small books but instead I’ll be working with a full-size journal pad that has a double page spread. Just looking at those two empty white pages makes me a little nervous already – but check back next week to see how things turn out.
This Week’s Prompt
The first week’s prompt is: Wild Soul. This is how I chose to interpret the challenge.
~Rumi~
Deep inside you hear a whisper, something that has meaning for you alone. Do you hear it calling you?
We all have something deep inside that calls us to be more than we already are.
If you set your wild soul free, what would it say to you?
If you gave it a name, what would it be?
If you gave a shape, how would it look?

This is exactly what I was looking for. I just bought a large sketchbook and was unsure how I wanted to use it. Problem solved. Looking forward to adding to it each week with help from you! Thanks. Happy New Year!!
