Hand Dyed Appliqued Tote

Originally intended to be used as a focal design on a wearable art jacket, this intricate machine appliqued design was rescued from my design wall where it has hung for quite some time.

The background fabric is a piece of hand dyed damask tablecloth and the fabric used for the applique is overdyed silk kimono fabric. The applique design is large and wraps around the tote from front to back.

The fabric has been stabilized and has a firm plastic bottom insert so the tote holds its shape. Small ties at the top secure the tote, and the inside is lined with a lovely hand dyed silky fabric. Two pockets with lovely little silver flower embellishments in each top corner, and a key holder is attached to one of the ties.

The tote body is approx 10" wide x 11" high, with overall length approx 26" from top of strap to bottom of tote.

This is a unique and one-of-a-kind art bag; lovely to look at and beautiful to hold.
